Funny

Anyway I don't see why we can't give Livingston a 1 year minimum deal to try him out. Dude still has the potential to succeed in the NBA and even if he doesn't, we can let him walk after 1 season.

not only does he have the potential, he is young, and cheap, there is no reason y not to try and grab him, it would create so many mismatches.

I would love to get him here but with so many teams interested it seems very unlikely. I think the Warriors will land him. They have money to spare and with Monta down he will come in and start. The only way it seems that he'll be here is because he personally wants to be here not because we'll be able to convince him to come.

Yea the warriors are really the only other team i'm worried about getting him. like you said they have money to spare and their starting point jsut went down. but i'm going with past precedence that the warriors' FO is extremely cheap so they'll offer a cheap deal similar to ours. if that happens then it'll simply come down to who's FO knows how to sway a player better, which i believe we have the advantage in

Oh yeah, here is the most recent interview with Shaun regarding his status. I posted this in another thread but figured it belongs here as well:

BDH, yeah you're right. I know its not as easy as Im putting on, but to know that we ARE in the mix of trying to get him makes me very confident that the situation will swing in our favor. The fact that we are still considered a low tier team with trememdous upside is a huge chip to use. a healthy Wade, Beasley, Chalmers, Marion & Banks if they stay, some great shooters and some credible role players (all fairly young guys; all unselfish who can get in and support his comeback and his style of play). Most of all, we could hype him up about NEXT season when we try to land a big man to allow him (should things work out) to move to a more permanent role working from positions 1-3 getting 24-29 minutes a game, maybe more depending on his health and conditioning.

I know the ONLY thing that can cause us to lose Shaun is if some retard crap team throws him money he just cant refuse.

Honestly I do see GS doing that BUT they just spit out a bunch of money for Monta, getting ready to pay Stephen Jackson out the wazoo because "He doesnt wanna be the 5th highest paid player on the team", they signed Corey Magette, Marcus Williams (also a point guard, so i dont think their need for a point guard isnt as severe as we may think. Oh and dont forget about that itialian guy Marco Belenili (sp?) hes also a point guard- a 6'5 PG at that), they resigned Azubuike, and a few other FA's so I dont think their money is THAT long. I mean they got an extra 17M by Baron jumping ship, but Im sure that 17m is close to gone by now after all their offseason moves and trades. But heres to extreme optimism.

As WadeIsLikeMIke would say: should we sign Livingston "I will shed a tear of victory" Big Grin Big Grin

We'll I was sayin that GS most likelt will throw money unless they realized what idiots they were for the Turiaf contract, it was like it was made out of spite from losing BD. But I totally agree, if no one throws a ridiculous amount of money we should be the front runners being a young team that needs a vet point and if he turns out well then we become serious contenders, solid in every position except the 5 and if Magloire plays FAIR then we have ourselves a turn around season and in the chase in the EAST.

Yessir, but peep this. here is most of the moves GS have made this offseason: The ones I can think of right off anyway

1. Resigned Monta Ellis; 66M (give or take)
2. Signed Corey Magette; 50M (give or take)
3. Signed Turiaf; 17M (give or take)
4. Resigned Azubuike; 10M (give or take)
5. Acquired Marcus Williams (a PG); 7M remaining
6. Signed Anthony Morrow; min
7. Signed Marco Belinelli (another guard) 9M; (give or take)
8. Almost forgot, Resigned Andris Biedrins; 60M? cant remember

9. They still are renegotiating Stephen Jackson's contract because he realized he was the 5th highest paid player on the team and he didnt like that, so obviously, they're gonna throw more money at him very soon to keep him happy.

Those are the main ones that have been reported and that to me does not look like a very cheap offseason to me. Im sure that whatever they throw at Shaun, its going to be the min because thats all they have right now. But o well, lets cross the fingers and see what happens

His size at the PG position will create miss matches like you won't believe. If we play him at the point, where it seems like the most possible place he will be way bigger that most PG at 6'7!
He's low risk but is he really that high of a reward? He was only mediocre when he was playing and t's hard to see him improving much after that last surgury. ANd even if we are to believe that he has completely healed from this injury... He was getting injured before that like every other week.
