Pat Riley said on Friday that the Heat will not add another point guard via free agency.
Miami had been linked to a number of different free-agent guards this offseason and speculation grew when second-round pick Patrick Beverley signed overseas.
The Heat only have Chris Quinn and Mario Chalmers at point guard currently, and the club might look to add depth via trade.
MAYBE THIS WILL FINALLY SHUT YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT ALL THESE POINTGUARDS WHEN OUR POINTGUARD DEPTH IS OBVIOUSLY STACKED RILES SEES THE BIG IMPROVEMENT WITH SUPER MARIO AND SUPER QUINN

I think Quinn would be a good defender this year, bcuz Quinn has been working with a college football coach. I'm sure he wuld be able to defend most PG's bcuz he is working keeping Wide Receivers in front of him.

Serious teams have three point guards. Maybe Quinn can be a second string point guard this year, but until he proves it in training camp, we have to assume he is still third-string material, and peruse another point guard. Maybe through a trade?

should've signed PBEV... i think not signing him may be one of his worst moves... seriously quinn as a backup? arguably one of the worst backups on the nba... imo

I agree. Riley may change his mind if Felton outperforms Chalmers in training camp, which he probably would, but because of that statement, I don't think Felton would even consider Miami as a possible destination.

We did not resign Head. As for Cook, that was just an experiment to improve his ball handling skills. If he plays point guard he would dribble up the floor and then pass to Wade. Kind of like Quinn, but more predictable because afterwards he would go for a catch-and-shoot like we know him to do. It was for roster flexibility. Everyone should at least know how to play two positions (unless you are really small, or really big), even if you only play one. For example, in order to include Stuckey in their starting line-up last season, Detroit tried starting him at the 1, Iverson at the 2, and Hamilton at the 3. Cook at the 1 was just a part of the HEAT summer youth players thing.

You guys complain we don't have enough depth at the PG position. Iverson is a shooting guard who would idealy play the point for us. Maybe a trick statement by Riley????? hmmmmmmm..
