If Jordan created that off balance with a sharp cross-over dribble, then fine. But, he didn't. He used his hand to slightly nudge Russell to create the advantage. He pushed off.

That being said, I like the fact that it was a no-call. In that instance, a foul call should not be something that should help determine the outcome of that game. Let the players decide at that moment. To me, it should be a blatantly obvious foul for it to be called. If Russell hadn't lost balance and challenged the shot and slapped Jordan's shooting hand after the ball was released, I likewise wouldn't want a foul call made.

Again, let the players decide unless there's no choice but to make a call. While it was a push-off, it wasn't the type that should affect the game. Jordan still had to drain the jumper, and he did.

I agree with you JoeJam. Russell was already moving and because Jordan exerted his force by placing his hand on his thigh, that caused Russell to lose balance. Free-throws should not determine that outcome of NBA Finals game.

I could be wrong, but video tape never lies. Jordan could never exert that much force without a full out shove. Russell went almost 3 three feet by slight nudge? I doubt it. Roll Eyes

jordan semi-pushed off. it's a normal move most basketball players do.

jordan was too fast going to his right, and bryon russell followed him. when jordan crossed over, russell was still carried by his momentum, and he SLIPPED.

i don't know why most of you guys can't see that. no one in utah j*** even whined about that play. russell never even mention about it except that jordan hit a phenominal shot.

there is no way in hell jordan pushed russell that hard lol. yall need to buy jordan's dvd and watch it up close.

The question wasn't whether it should have been a foul call or not or if J*** fans should be upset there was no call. The question was whether it was a push-off or not, and even in your answer you stated it was: "jordan semi-pushed off."

Even many who say it was a push-off agree that it was a good no-call. But, it WAS a push-off.

oh how i wish the refs back then were still here today... lol anyway, i truly believe that it was a clean play, and heres why:

when it looked like jordan had his hand on russels hip, it wasnt to push off, it was to make russel believe that mj was gonna drive once the ball was crossed over.

however, jordan didnt think that russel would slip, but when he did he just popped a jumper b4 anyone recovered to him

Seriously though, if that had happened to anyones favorite team they'd be pissed lol. It's percieved as "crafty" because it's MJs last shot and no one likes the J*** outside of Utah but lets be honest, if that happened to your team you'd be pissed. It's like the equivolent of the reffs not callnig that foul on wade and saying "yeah three people are grabbing you but what the hell, we don't like fts determining finals." If he pushed off it should of been a foul.

ah i thought my post made sense already. it's not a foul. who in the hell would call a foul in that play?

no way jordan would get offensive foul in that play. seriously lol.

It didn't make sence and it still doesn't because you aren't saying your opinion. Your saying there is no way a reff would have the balls to call that on jordan. The question is weather he pushed off or not. Semi Penny hardaway fan. Credit? Your name.

Weather he did or not is totally irrelevant, Russel was out of balance and out of position so that kills his argument, if he would of not had bit on the inside move and stuck his position by Jordan and then he would of pushed he would of had an argument, but he didn't do that so Russel's argument is null.

the difference between jordan and the other players is that not only did he pushed russell but most IMPORTANTLY HE MADE THE SHOOT/SOME PLAYERS PUSH BUT MISS THE CRUCIAL SHOOT.JORDAN DID NOT.
